About Maureen
I am a Florida registered Landscape Architect with twenty seven years experience working on all types of projects. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and a Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture. For the seven years prior to my move from South Miami to Delray Beach I was employed by a landscape architectural firm specializing in the design, coordination and construction of hundreds of design/build projects from high-end residential, institutional, commercial and hospitality properties.
Since moving here I have completed freelance work for architects, landscape contractors, home owners and general contractors. Some of the General contractor's include Cudmore Builders, Van Ness & Callaway Construction Inc., G.L. Homes, David A. Farrow, Ciro Gomez, Al Giachetti, The Baltimore Group and architect's such as Rick Brautigan, Randall Stofft, William Weitsma, Soderlund Architecture & Design, J-W Engineering Inc., DK Architects/ Planners, Inc., to name a few.
From April 2008 to August 2009 I was responsible for all of the in-house landscape design work for Kenco Properties, developers of The Oaks, Ibis and Mirasol Residential Communities. I was responsible for meeting with clients, preparing hardscape and landscape plans, budgeting, gaining client approval and sign off. I am full of gratitude for the opportunity to work on all of the projects that I have been entrusted with through out my career. I have had the good fortune to become great friends with many of my clients.
From 2000 through 2018 I was Sunflower Landscaping & Maintenance Inc.'s consulting Landscape Architect.
The Schecter / Brahms project is one that I am particularly proud of. Working closely with the lady of the house to incorporate the garden styles she'd seen and loved during their extensive travels. The finished product is a combination of French, tailored and tropical. This beautiful Stofft project was honored by being a featured article in Lux Magazine's Palm Beach / Broward's November / December 2017 issue.
I was pleasantly surprised when I opened "Boca Life" magazine's March 2019 issue. I thought the bedroom on the cover was beautiful and I didn't realize initially that it was my twin sister's work. Maura is an excellent interior designer based in downtown ft. Lauderdale. She had been retained as the client's interior designer after my work was completed. It was exciting to see our work come together and be presented so beautifully in the magazine.
An incredibly strong work ethic drives me to strive for perfection on all of my projects. I work my craft by hand drafting as well as the use of AutoCAD. I also have an extensive list of references available upon request and I welcome the opportunity to provide complimentary meeting to discuss your project.
Thank you for taking the time to my website and for your consideration,
Maureen Smith
